Spitfire Audio Cinematic Frozen Strings - Amazing Textures Low Price

Cinematic Frozen Strings is a new sample library from Spitfire Audio. It is the newest addition to their ongoing Originals series.

What is Spitfire Originals?

Originals is a series of small sample libraries that give you lots of ingredients for your for cinematic compositions. Each of them sells for just 29$, which really is a great price for the excellent quality you get.

It's also a nice place to start looking for more premium content after enjoying Spitfire's free Labs instruments.

Cinematic Frozen Strings

Cinematic Frozen Strings is a string library with, as the name suggests, a very cold and icy sound. It's a great addition to Albion Tundra because it uses a lot of the same techniques.

The big difference is that Albion Tundra was recorded with a big orchestra and Cinematic Frozen Strings has only 8 string players.

2,2,0,2,2 - This means 4 violins, 2 celli and 2 basses. Just like Tundra, there are no violas in this library. This was done on purpose to take away some of the warmth that violas usually add and give the library its icy tone.

Cinematic Frozen Strings is not a bread and butter string library and all of the articulations here are more experimental in nature. You get a lot of very soft and achingly beautiful textures. Just like many other Spitfire libraries, it was recorded at AIR Studios. The natural reverberant sound of the hall really adds a lot of character, but due to some very close mics, it sounds much more intimate than the lush and wide Tundra.

You get 1 decca tree mic, 1 close mic and 1 super close mic. The super close mics were attached to the bridge of the instruments of the players, so it is as close as you can possibly get. There is something otherworldly about this sound that I really love. I hope Spitfire continues to include these super close mics in more libraries after Solstice and Cinematic Frozen Strings.

Here are all of the articulations that are included:

Long Flautando CS

Long Super Sul Tasto

Long Col Legno Tratto

Long Sul Tasto > Sul Pont

Long Sul Tasto > Flautando

Long No Rosin

Tremolo CS Sul Pont

Harmonic Tremolo

Short Brushed Spiccato CS

Short Mandolin Pluck

Short Col Legno

Short Brushed Sul Tasto

I especially love this version of the Flautando CS and the gentle movement of the Sul Tasto to Flautando patch. Also the Harmonic Tremolos are simply stunning, but all of the others are fantastic as well and each offers a unique color that is very useful to write emotional and intimate pieces.

Cinematic Frozen Strings takes 2.8GB of storage space and sells for 29$ at the following link.
